Kunle Remi is Honored in his Role as Saro in ‘Aníkúlápó.’

The African International Film Festival (AFRIFF) is the largest annual international film showcase for African filmmakers, attracting participants from all over Africa and those living abroad. Their goal is to encourage and promote meaningful interactions where individuals can establish strong connections, share their ideas and build strong business relationships for a bright future in content production. For 11 years now, they have positioned themselves prominently within the African film and media industry, and this celebration of African films plans to continue well into the future.

AFRIFF, in partnership with MTN, has honored Kunle Remi for his role in the renowned Netflix film ‘Aníkúlápó.’ Remi portrays Saro, a humble traditional textile weaver. His character grapples with the challenges of forbidden love, death, power and betrayal. The movie, streamed on the popular platform Netflix, was the most-watched non-English film in 2022, accumulating over 8.7 million streaming hours in just its first week.

While Kunle Remi is being honored by AFRIFF and MTN at the 12th award ceremony for his outstanding performance in ‘Aníkúlápó,’ fans still have the opportunity to vote for their favourite movie in the Movie Award Category. You can help vote for ‘Aníkúlápó’ by sending 27 to 7776 (NGN50 per vote – only available to all MTN customers.)

With the award ceremony commencing on the 11th of November, we look forward to seeing the honorees and hoping for ‘Aníkúlápó’ to take home the victory.
